Let’s face it, a ski vacation can be quite expensive. Although costs vary widely based on type of travel to the resort, preferred lodging, gear rentals and dining options, the typical week-long family ski trip to a well-known Colorado resort could cost somewhere in the range of $10,000, according to Out There Colorado. However, the following ski resorts and hotels are offering ways to hold down costs while at the same time providing a ski vacation that checks all of your boxes.
Aspen Snowmass, Colorado
Aspen Snowmass entails four ski mountains: Aspen Mountain, Aspen Highlands, Buttermilk and Snowmass. Viewline Resort Snowmass, Autograph Collection, which is reopening in December following a transformational renovation is a premier ski-in/ski-out resort offering special rates via their Stay Longer, Save More Offer. Other ways to save include:
* Through First Tracks guests are able to hit the slopes early on both Aspen Mountain and Snowmass for free.
* Check out some special offers such as discounted packages that include $75 lift tickets in celebration of the 75th anniversary this winter.
* If you have your own Nordic/cross country gear visitors are welcome to use the over 60 miles of maintained cross country trails for free.
Tamarack Resort, Tamarack, Idaho
After investing more than $40 million in enhancements throughout the resort, Tamarack is primed for a super ski season. The resort will be offering a deeply discounted Midweek Ski & Stay package that will get families 50% off lift tickets, as well as discounted room rates at the resort. Another way to save at Tamarack is to purchase an Express Card which offers Direct to Lift access and daily discount of 26% off the window rate. Tamarack is also a part of the Indy Pass. “We’re proud to continue making the resort more accessible, from the way our guests interact with and enjoy this special part of Idaho to how our SKY Pass benefits local students,” notes Tamarack President Scott Turlington.

Sunday River, Newry, Maine
With its eights interconnected peaks and 53 miles of trails, Sunday River is a mountain that should be on everyone’s “must ski” list. Through the new Stay & Save Discount, anyone who books lodging at the Grand Summit Hotel, Jordan Hotel or the Snow Cap Inn is eligible for 10% off lift tickets for two days or more during their stay. Unlike many other major ski resorts, Sunday River offers rates for twilight skiing. Most of the beginner and intermediate terrain on South Ridge and North Peak features lights, and tickets are available for Fridays and Saturdays from 3 – 6:30 p.m. The Easy Change policy for lift tickets has been revamped. If you can’t make it for the date that you booked originally online, you can submit a request up to 48-hours in advance to receive a credit. You can then apply this credit to another online ticket purchase within the same ski season. This allows guests to take advantage of those low rates when they book early, but also offers flexibility if your plans change.

Canada’s second largest ski resort, Sun Peaks is spread across three distinct peaks, each easily accessible from the village. For winter enthusiasts, passionate skiers and even first-timers, Sun Peaks provides the perfect mix of ski terrain, winter activities and amenities.
